SANJIESAN LICENSING / Supplier questions

A supplier says one part cannot be made as drawn. Record the exception

A message saying “we need to change this” is too vague to route through a collaboration team. Ask the supplier to identify the affected part and show the constraint against the current drawing. A short exception sheet can keep a practical manufacturing question from becoming an undocumented redesign of the character or product.

Locate the constraint on the current reference

Record the drawing revision, part label and the supplier’s explanation in its own words. Ask for a marked image or specimen that shows the issue. Distinguish a confirmed constraint from a suggestion made for convenience or cost discussion. Keep any missing measurement or process information visible so the team does not treat an incomplete explanation as a settled technical conclusion.

Show proposed alternatives against the same part

Put the unchanged reference beside each proposed alternative. Describe what would change in shape, attachment, material or visible artwork, using only information actually supplied. If an alternative affects a character feature or brand treatment, send that question to the designated owner. Do not allow a supplier’s proposed workaround to enter the master art silently because it arrived inside a production email.

Close with a named revision and remaining checks

Record the chosen alternative or the decision to pause, together with its decision maker and supporting evidence. Issue a new drawing revision only when the appropriate review is complete. Name the sample or proof needed to inspect the change, and keep affected deliverables linked to it. A decision on one component should leave unrelated components on their existing revisions unless there is an actual reason to reopen them.
