Restart from the old decision, then check what has changed

An old proposal can save work when a collaboration resumes, but its confident presentation may hide assumptions that are no longer current. Open the previous decision record before opening the most polished rendering. The goal is to preserve useful thinking while identifying which parts still answer the new conversation. An old concept remains a concept until the appropriate current steps are completed.

Recover what was actually selected

Locate the last selected direction and its reason, plus the questions left open. Do not infer approval from a folder named final or from a presentation that uses both organisations’ names. Where the decision is unclear, ask the relevant participants rather than reconstructing certainty from file dates. Separate the useful creative idea from the commercial assumptions that appeared beside it.

Check the changed context

Compare the intended audience occasion, proposed formats, available references and participating roles with the new brief. Record a short list of meaningful differences. Do not require every old sketch to be redrawn merely because time has passed; equally, do not assume a once-discussed contribution is still available. Updated source or rights questions should go through the responsible current route before they become promises in a new presentation.

Select the smallest useful restart task

Choose a concrete next study that tests the strongest remaining idea against the changed context. It might be one revised front view or a short explanation for the newly intended occasion. Keep the old proposal available as a reference and name the new revision clearly. After the study, decide whether the direction still holds instead of immediately rebuilding every supporting asset around an assumption no one has revisited.
