SANJIESAN LICENSING / Co-brand design

Compare co-brand layouts without changing every variable

Three attractive layouts can be impossible to compare when each uses a different product view, crop and background. Build the review set around one clear question. The goal is to isolate a layout decision before the team spends time debating presentation differences that are unrelated to it.

Freeze the things this review is not changing

Use the same product outline, scale and viewing angle in every option. Keep the character visual constant unless choosing that visual is the purpose of the meeting. Put the alternatives beside each other at a readable size. If one option uses a close-up and another uses a distant room scene, a preference may come from the photograph rather than from the brand placement you intended to test.

Ask one placement question at a time

Try a small set that changes only the relative position of the two marks. On another sheet, compare scale while retaining the chosen placement. Show a plain diagram of clear areas and neighbouring text rather than inventing rules for another owner’s logo. WIPO notes quality and reputation considerations in trademark licensing. Ask the relevant brand owner to supply its actual usage rules for this project.

Record the decision with its limits

Keep the selected sheet, the remaining question and the decision maker’s response together. A preferred mockup is a creative direction, not automatic permission to put both marks on every channel. If packaging and digital promotion need separate review, make that separation visible in the next proof list. Retain rejected alternatives as labelled history so a supplier does not revive one accidentally.
