SANJIESAN LICENSING / BUYING GUIDE

Choose a character reference sheet or a key visual by its job

A striking character image can introduce a project, while a reference sheet helps another creator understand specific features. Both can be valuable. Name the job before choosing a commission so the provider knows whether the result needs to explain relationships between views or carry one compelling composition for a particular placement.

Describe the person who will use the artwork next

For a reference task, describe the actual question another contributor needs answered, such as the relationship between an existing front view and a selected accessory. For a key visual, describe the audience, placement and leading idea. Keep the established character source attached to either brief. Do not ask a provider to reconstruct missing canon from a mood board or treat an expressive pose as the only available structural reference.

Compare outputs that answer that job

Ask a reference-sheet provider which views and callouts the quote covers, and a key-visual provider which composition and adaptation outputs are included. Clarify editable source, review stages and the treatment of supplied material. A large number of views is not automatically useful if none answers the recipient’s question. Likewise, a reference sheet should not be priced against a fully staged scene as though the two are equivalent packages.

Select a bounded first delivery

Choose a first delivery the intended reader can assess, such as a limited reference section or a composition rough, and ask how later work would be scoped. Preserve the difference between a proposed artwork treatment and an established identity. For Sanjiesan, the existing character and card identity references remain fixed. A creative-partnership enquiry can describe the missing reference or intended placement so the next conversation has a clear object.
