SANJIESAN LICENSING / BUYING GUIDE

Choose new illustration or adaptation around what is missing

A partner needs a wide banner, but the available artwork is a narrow portrait. One proposal redraws a scene; another adapts the selected image within a new layout. Both may be useful, yet they create different outputs and review questions. Describe what the project lacks before requesting a commission. These are enquiry options, not offers from named suppliers or a claim that any new image has already been approved.

Identify the gap in the available material

Show the cleared starting image and the intended format together. Name what cannot be achieved by a straightforward crop: a missing setting, an incomplete relationship or a text area the image cannot support. Keep existing character and world references unchanged. A gap in a layout is not permission to invent a new canonical event, and a request for new illustration should identify which story elements remain to be proposed.

Compare the intermediate review view

For adaptation, ask to see a layout study with the original picture boundary and proposed additions clear. For new illustration, ask how composition and identity references will be reviewed before full rendering. Compare the stage that exposes the important decision, rather than only the finished-looking sample. Include editable material and destination formats where they are actually needed, keeping rights and source questions with the responsible parties.

Choose the smallest complete creative task

If the existing image can serve the banner with a deliberate layout, adaptation may answer the present need. If the message depends on an unseen scene, new illustration may be appropriate after the brief is clarified. Do not commission a full scene merely because it sounds more substantial, or ask adaptation to hide missing story decisions. An enquiry should include the gap, the supplied references and the review point that will decide the next stage.
