SANJIESAN LICENSING / BUYING GUIDE

Choose the next motion deliverable: storyboard, animatic or finished piece

A request for a short brand film can hide several different needs. The team may be choosing the sequence, judging its pace or refining a direction already agreed. Name the unresolved decision before comparing service packages. A useful commission should deliver evidence for that decision, rather than making an uncertain sequence expensive to change.

Identify what the team cannot judge yet

Write the question in plain language: whether the selected images tell a coherent sequence, whether a pause is long enough to read a line or whether an established visual direction can be finished for a stated placement. Keep these as separate questions. Use only material available for the exercise and mark any proposed new story element. The production team should not have to infer missing canon from a mood reference.

Ask which outputs support that decision

Ask providers to describe the proposed frames, timed preview, source files and review rounds in ordinary terms. If a rough uses temporary sound or stand-in imagery, identify it rather than letting it enter the final deliverable by accident. Compare the same task across providers. A detailed visual finish may be unnecessary when the team still needs to agree on the order of events or the wording of the closing invitation.

Commission the next stage with a clear boundary

Choose the stage that answers the question and state how its result will be accepted or revised. Keep later adaptations, new footage and changes to the underlying concept identifiable in the scope. Bring the intended placement and unresolved story or timing question to a Sanjiesan creative-partnership enquiry. This helps the parties discuss a suitable next delivery without treating every early preview as approval of a complete film.
