The retail box and the shipping carton need separate review rows

A concept deck may show a beautiful retail box but leave the outer shipping carton unspecified. Another team may later add a logo or character to that carton without a clear brief. Draw the packaging layers separately so that artwork, operational information and review questions stay attached to the correct surface.

Name the layers the project actually needs

List the object, protective insert, retail box and outer carton only where they are part of the proposal. Identify which layer reaches the customer and which may be handled by logistics or retail staff. Keep the material and dimensions unresolved if the supplier has not confirmed them. A diagram of layers is useful planning information, but it should not be mistaken for a verified packaging specification.

Assign artwork and operational fields separately

For each layer, show the proposed visual area and the information another team needs to supply. Ask the designated owner to confirm any logo, character or campaign line proposed for that surface. Reserve carrier or warehouse fields through the team responsible for the actual fulfilment process. Do not let an attractive rendering become the only record of where labels, product identifiers or handling information are expected to go.

Use a layer-by-layer handoff check

Before sending files, match every deliverable to a named packaging layer and review revision. Ask the receiving supplier to confirm which template it will use for each one. If a layer is changed, identify the associated artwork and information checks that must be repeated. Keep unrelated layers on their existing decisions instead of treating one carton revision as permission to redesign the entire package.
