Put the relationship explanation where the recommendation is read

A social collaboration can be visually clear about a product while leaving the brand relationship unclear. The FTC’s Disclosures 101 guidance says material connections should be obvious and disclosures should appear with the endorsement message. Read the current guidance for the actual situation and obtain qualified advice where needed. A general content exercise does not establish compliance across countries or platforms.

Write the actual relationship plainly

Identify what is true: payment, a supplied product or another relationship described by the relevant guidance. Do not invent sponsorship to make an ordinary editorial link appear important, and do not call a paid message independent merely because the writer chose the wording. Prepare a short explanation in the message’s language. Keep the facts with the content draft so a designer is not left to infer the relationship from a partner logo.

Review the message in its actual presentation

Look at the intended post, image or video rather than only the standalone caption document. Check whether the relationship explanation appears where the recommendation is encountered, without relying on a distant profile page or hidden expansion. For video, use the FTC’s specific guidance rather than assuming a description beneath the player answers the whole issue. Keep the explanation readable as the visual changes.

Keep experience claims within the evidence

Separate a proposed evaluation method from someone’s real experience. The FTC guidance says not to describe experience with an untried product. If the content is based on documentation, say what the source supports instead of writing a first-person trial. Keep the final relationship wording and actual product claims together for the appropriate review before publication. Clear attribution supports a recommendation without inventing a user story to make it sound more personal.
