A new idea after selection needs an impact check
A layout has been selected for the next development stage when someone suggests adding another character. The idea may be useful, but it can change more than the visible panel. Before promising a quick edit, trace what depends on the selected arrangement. Selection for development is not a claim that production or rights approval has already happened.
Write the difference in plain language
Describe what the new request adds or removes and the reason it is being considered. Keep a reference to the selected version. If the request is only to restore a missing required word, treat it differently from a new character relationship that changes the story. Do not use a harmless-sounding label such as “small update” to decide the scope before inspecting the actual difference.
Trace the connected outputs
List the views, text and examples that reuse the arrangement. An additional character might affect the crop, the explanation, a bilingual caption and a proposed product family. These are possibilities to inspect, not automatic claims of extra work in every project. Identify what remains unchanged as well. A bounded impact note helps the team decide without exaggerating a local edit into a complete restart.
Choose whether to revise now or retain the idea
Ask the responsible participants to choose the next step with the identified dependencies visible. The idea might enter the current study, move to a later proposal, or need a separate briefing question. Update the working references if the change is accepted and remove ambiguity about which version continues. Keep schedule or commercial consequences for the people responsible to confirm; an editorial impact map alone cannot settle them.
