SANJIESAN LICENSING / Partner information

A confidentiality discussion also needs a sharing plan

An early partner discussion may need enough detail to assess a proposal without exposing every working asset. Business.gov.uk notes that confidentiality agreements do not replace sensible storage and access controls. Use that practical distinction to prepare the next sharing step. Whether an agreement is suitable and what it should say remain questions for the people responsible for the actual business arrangement.

Identify what the next conversation needs

Start with the question the recipient is expected to answer. A proposed surface shape may be enough to discuss an illustration approach; a complete editable character library may be unnecessary. Prepare a limited sharing copy with accurate concept labels and remove unrelated personal or business material. Do not alter established identity information to make a teaser; withhold an unnecessary asset rather than inventing a substitute biography.

Name the recipient and the route

Confirm who needs the material and how they are expected to access it. Use the existing appropriate private route and avoid publishing a working link merely because it is easier to paste into a presentation. Check the actual sharing settings rather than describing a file as private from memory. Keep any onward-sharing question explicit when the recipient needs to involve a colleague or an external contributor.

Review what remains available afterwards

After the conversation, record which reference was used and what the next discussion requires. If access needs changing, follow the agreed process through the responsible owner rather than silently deleting shared project material. Keep the meeting note focused on the proposal and avoid copying sensitive details into public case studies. A deliberate sharing plan supports the conversation without treating a confidentiality label as a technical protection.
